About the Hosts
Marvell Adams Jr., CEO, Caregiver Action Network
Throughout his 20+ year career, Marvell has committed to serving caregivers and older adults. His experience spans many complex and challenging operating environments including highly regulated residential care and primary, acute, post-acute care process improvement within the $4 billion University of Rochester and URMC System; CEO of a large, highly diverse, life plan community and corporate COO within the $400 million Kendal System; and dozens of accreditation visits as a 13-year veteran surveyor for CARF International.
Marvell is also a highly trained dementia skills practitioner and coach with in-depth experience understanding, teaching, and including the perspectives and needs of persons living with dementia. Diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and accessibility are a central theme in all aspects of Marvell’s work with a tireless devotion to creating equity in caregiving for all.
Nichole Goble (she/her), Director of Community Initiatives, Caregiver Action Network
Nichole Goble (she/her) is the current Director of Community Initiatives at Caregiver Action Network. She has been with the organization since 2017. As part of her role as Director of Community Initiatives, she manages activities/programs with non-funding community partners and moderates caregiver roundtables and learning collaboratives. She also presents to various community groups on a variety of topics related to caregiving and the resources and supports provided by CAN.
Nichole brings a unique perspective to her role, being an individual with a disability that has been on both sides of the caregiving relationship. She also has a background in disability advocacy and experience working with youth and families.
Nichole assisted in caring for her great-grandmother with Alzheimer's and has fond memories of being at her home before school and enjoying breakfast made by her great-grandmother. As her great-grandmother’s condition progressed Nichole took on the inspiring task of being the one to make breakfast as well as doing small things around the house to make sure her great-grandmother's day went smoothly. She also has experience in caring for her grandfather who was diagnosed with bone cancer as well as being a long-distance Caregiver for her mother with COPD.
Dr. Priti Lakhani, DPM
As an ardent advocate for patient experience, quality improvement, and safety practices, her hope is to use data to affect change.
This spans from diabetes management in the United States, to prevention of maternal infant mortality in rural Africa, improving the physician experience as a CMIO, and assuring safety for Veterans. Advising startups on proceeding to market, understanding change management and improving safety overall are her never ending goals to achieve better outcomes for physicians, individuals, and communities.
Carrie Cusker, VP of Clinical Innovation, Embodied Labs
Carrie Cusker, MS, BSN, RN, is a fervent advocate for older adults and their care partners. In her role as the VP of Clinical Innovation at Embodied Labs, Carrie draws on her 25 years of nursing experience to create meaningful, immersive content that encompasses both the clinical and human aspects of healthcare.
Having completed a Master’s degree in Dementia Sciences at the University of Hull, Carrie continues to challenge the social construction of aging. She has lent her voice to multiple conferences and webinar panels in efforts to inform, inspire, and celebrate innovation in aging services.
